UNHCR backs Bridging Gaps and Afri-Youth Network through Refugee-led Innovation Fund

In an exciting announcement, Bridging Gaps, in collaboration with our esteemed partner Afri-Youth Network, is thrilled to share that we have been selected by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) as one of the 2024 awardees of the Refugee-led Innovation Fund! This recognition is a testament to our commitment to empowering refugee communities through innovative solutions.

Project Spotlight: Mentorship, Capacity-building, and Microloans for Refugee-led Social Enterprises

"Within the Bidibidi Refugee Settlement, we face many challenges such as limited access to banking systems, financial markets, and entrepreneurship education which have hindered refugees from launching social enterprises, perpetuating cycles of poverty," says Bridging Gaps Co-Founder and Director of Afri-Youth Network Malish James.

"The impact of our project is profound," adds Bridging Gaps Founder & CEO Janina Peter. "By directly benefiting up to 60 refugee entrepreneurs, we anticipate a ripple effect of new income sources and economic opportunities. Our holistic approach not only empowers individuals but also contributes to reducing inequality, breaking the cycle of poverty, and enhancing community sustainability. Through empowerment and collaboration, we aim to create lasting change and build resilient communities."
